Sutherby Lane is an Australian label crafting beautifully classic, heirloom clothing for babies and children. Our exclusive designs break through the white noise of modern children's clothing, providing a refined collection that celebrates the traditional smocked & embroidered handcrafts of yesteryear.
Sutherby Lane believes in cherishing infancy & youth, by dressing children as children.

The brand was established in early 2020 by Owner & Designer, Lucy Davies. Lucy is the proud wife to a fourth-generation beef & grain farmer, and mother to two young children. Sutherby Lane is run from the little cottage on her husband's family-owned agricultural property in rural Australia. What initially began as a creative outlet whilst on maternity leave with her first baby, has flourished into an internationally recognised brand & a rewarding career in children's clothing design. Lucy’s passion for timeless fashion only continues to grow & she finds immense fulfilment in creating authentic & beautifully classic pieces for your child’s wardrobe.

The Story Behind Sutherby Lane

I have fond memories, as a little girl, of wearing pretty hand-smocked dresses & dainty embroidered outfits. I was very fortunate that my mother kept most of these special pieces, which soon became dress-ups for my childhood dolls & inspiration for my own child's wardrobe sometime in the future.

In 2019, my husband & I were blessed to welcome our first child, a precious baby boy named James. I became increasingly frustrated by the lack of classic baby clothes in Australia & dreamed of making this style more accessible. A few sketches later and the Sutherby Lane journey began.

The name "Sutherby" was derived from my late grandmother's name. She was a lady of exquisite taste & timeless style, and always returned from her overseas travels with beautiful smocked clothing for her grand-children. For this reason, it seemed only appropriate to name a classic childrenswear label in her honour. ...
