Christmas Sizing Information

Thankyou for considering Sutherby Lane for your 2023 Christmas outfits. It is our greatest honour to play a small role in adding a tough of magic to Christmas.

We understand ordering the right size months in advance for Christmas may seem challenging. We try our best to ensure our garments run true to size, however due to the versatile fit of our silhouettes and the unpredictable nature of infant growth, it is always safer to upsize, unless otherwise specified.

An overall recommendation for each silhouette included in our 2023 Christmas Collection can be found below. We have included this information, along with individual measurement charts, on the product pages of each item.

Please note - the following recommendations are based on an average sized child (measuring in the 50th percentile for height/weight).

DRESSES -

Birth to 1YR/Walker: Order your baby's usual size.

Walker/1yr - 10YR: Size up if in between sizes. Most of our dresses are made with a bow sash rear, which can be used to adjust for any extra room in the bodice. Therefore, upsizing mainly concerns the length of the dress - A measurement chart of each dress can be found in the image gallery of the product.

ROMPERS-

(Nutcracker Smocked Romper, Nutcracker Button-on Set, Land of Sweets Romper, Tartan Smocked Romper, Sugar Plum Fairy Smocked Romper, Clara's Christmas Smocked Romper, Christmas Holly Unisex Romper)

Birth to 3YR: Size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

Rompers are an excellent option for young babies & busy toddlers on the move. The elasticised thigh seams and natural gathering creates a versatile fit that will cater for little ones of all shapes & sizes.

SUSPENDER SHORTS -

(Tartan Suspender Shorts, Cherry Plaid Suspender Shorts)

1YR to 6YR: Size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

Our Suspender shorts are a European straight fit and have been made using a non-stretch woven fabric - For this reason we strongly suggest upsizing. These overalls have been designed for early walkers and onwards. If your little one is a crawler and/or wears cloth nappies we strongly advise our Bloomers (w/ Removable Straps) instead. Braces are entirely removable.

SHORTS -

(Tartan Shorts, Cherry Plaid Shorts, Nutcracker Shorts)

2YR to 10YR: Size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

Our shorts are a European straight fit and have been made using a non-stretch woven fabric - For this reason we strongly suggest upsizing if in between sizes. All our shorts have an elasticised rear waistband for added comfort. Please Note: We have since added belt loops onto our Tartan Shorts for added adjustability.

BLOOMERS (W/ REMOVABLE STRAPS) -

Newborn to 3YR: True to size

Our Bloomers w/ Removable Straps are a versatile, naturally gathered fit. The adjustable shoulder straps are removable. We suggest selecting your babies usual size.

'NUTCRACKER' JON JON -

NEWBORN to 5YR: Size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

Our Nutcracker Jon Jon is a straight fit and has been made using a non-stretch woven fabric - For this reason we strongly suggest upsizing.

SHIRTS & BLOUSES -

(Tartan Piped Shirt, Cherry Plaid Piped Shirt, Cherry Plaid Shirt, Broderie Anglaise Blouse, The Collared Blouse)

NEWBORN to 10YR: True to size. However, Size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

Our shirts and blouses are crafted using a using a non-stretch woven fabric. Due to the versatile cut of these garments, please upsize if in doubt or purchasing for longevity.

BODYSUITS -

(The Collared Bodysuit)

NEWBORN to 3YR: True to size. However, Size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

Our bodysuits are crafted using a soft & stretchy cotton fabric. They are true to size, however please size up if in doubt or in between sizes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is upsizing?

Upsizing refers to selecting the larger size based on your child's corresponding age.

For example, a 9 month old at Christmas falls into the 6-12 month age bracket in regards to size. If advised to order "True to Size" you would order a size 6-12 months. However, if recommended to upsize you would order a Size 12-18 months.

What styles are most appropriate for babies wearing cloth nappies?

Most of our styles are suitable for cloth nappy wearing babies, with the exception of our woven non-stretch shorts (The Suspender Shorts/Tartan Shorts/Nutcracker Shorts).
